This wedding has had a long slow build up, finally on Friday, September 5, 2014 it arrived.

11:00 Arrive at The Hickstead Hotel

11:10 I start taking some Bride Getting Ready shots.

11:30 I ask to check out the flat roof at the front of the hotel, I had been told I could use it last week when I scoped the venue out, but couldn't get access at the time. You think I had asked for the week's takings! Several phone calls to various managers later, success, accesses granted. What a waste of time that was! The view from the roof was not what it appeared to be from the ground. I could see enough usable posing space to get three handkerchiefs on. I think the receptionist who told me about the roof last week, was having a joke at my expense.

12:00 Have a quick look at the room the reception is to be held in & get a few shots of the table decorations before they get damaged by the guests.

12:15 A few more getting ready shots of the bride, her mum, sister, brother in law and two nephews.

12:45 While I'm in there I place three speedlights on top of curtain pelmets, aimed up at the white ceiling. I might need these later if the light level gets too low. Take a few test shots & adjust the angle of the speedlights for best room coverage. I didn't actually use them much, but they were handy when I did need some extra light for the cake cutting & speeches. The joys of remote control flash.

13:00 Off to Brighton Registry Office we go.

To be continued...
